Get It Done: Set Up Your Small Business as a Limited Company

Do you want to start doing business as a limited company? Been putting it off? Does the registration seem too complicated?

In this workshop, we will cover:

  • Information about limited companies

  • Set up a Government Gateway ID for an Organisation. You cannot use a Personal Government Gateway ID.

  • Establish your limited company through Companies House

  • Register your new company with HMRC

  • Key dates and deadlines for corporate reports and tax fillings

You need to have ALL of the following information to complete your registration as a limited company:

Your SIC code. Look it up here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/standard-industrial-classification-of-economic-activities-sic

An address for your company. Read requirements and advice here: https://www.gov.uk/limited-company-formation/company-address

A credit card or PayPal account. This workshop is free, however the Companies House registration fee is £12.

You need at least 3 pieces of personal information about yourself and your shareholders or guarantors, for example:

Town of birth

Mother’s maiden name

Father’s first name

Telephone number

National insurance number

Passport number

By the end of this event, you will have an Organisational Government Gateway ID, your limited company registered with Companies House, your company registered with HMRC and you’ll be ready to start growing your business!

Please note: you will need to have access to the internet and to your mobile phone to complete this process. You need to be able to either receive text messages, an automated phone call, or use an authentication app (such as Google Authenticate).

You will need to be able to make a debit, credit or PayPal payment of £12.a
